I have seen articles, blogs, tweets, facebook posts, etc. All talking about this couple. Well former couple after their announcement. Its one of those things that just doesnt add up in my logical thinking brain. That these 2 people can get so consumed with the fame and money that they would forget about the 8 kids that they have sitting in front of them. Why in the world would you think putting their lives and your marriage on television for the world to see would actually make for a family atmosphere. Its choices like these that make the american culture look really bad. I just feel for the kids. They had no choice in the matter. Fine get a divorce, but the media is something they shouldnt have to deal with. I need to be more consistant on here I know. So anyways. I think it fitting since the last time I blogged I purchased an IPhone to write about it. Let me say this, It changed my life completley. I believe it has taken the smart phone industry to a whole new level and will continue to change the way we live. Convienence is becoming a driving force behind products today. With life speeding up with the growth of technology its imparative that we get things done fast. Even when its the littlest thing like making sure our favorite show is recording on our DVR at home. Soon everything will be at our fingertips. We will be able to make sure the dog is fed at home, the alarm is set, iron is off, lights are turned off, etc. All these things are available now but only to those that can afford the sophisticated home computers. Soon it will be available to the average consumer. Its rather exciting to think of it all. Of course security will be an issue like most new things. I just cant wait to see how fast it all grows in the next 10-15 years.

Sup with the Jonas Brothers?

I dont understand why these guys are considered a good band? Why are they selling records? I guess because the bubble gums think they are cute or whatever. However, being a fan of music like I am I cannot help but think that this destroys where modern music is going. They have no talent and no originality. I watched the Grammys the other night and I was taken back when I saw Stevie Wonder perform with the freakin Jonas Brothers. It was horrible. Poor Stevie...not only did he have to sing with a crappy group he had his song cut off at the end of the show as well. Stevie deserves the air time but the Jonas Brothers? I am sure they are good kids and all but from a musical stand point. I just dont undestand.

This Is Why Football Is Great!! !

Being that I am a Niner fan I am a little jealous of the Steelers because its been way to long since the Niners have even been in the Super Bowl, let alone the playoffs for that matter. It sucks. However, I have to give credit where credit is due. The steelers pulled it out. When the Cards scored in the 4th quarter and gave the steelers close to 3 minutes to come back. I knew that Big Ben would come threw. There was a moment where the the camera caught Big Ben grabbing his helmet. You could see it in his face that the dude was ready to hit the field. No fear. He was ready to lead the offense down the field. I knew right there it was going to be done. This is where great QB's are defined and he lived up to the moment. Especially on the TD pass. It couldnt have been a more perfect pass coupled with an outstanding grab by Santonio Holmes. I have to tip my cap to the steelers with a great victory and their 6th Super Bowl win. Although, dont you worry about my Niners we will be there again soon to catch you.

Casual Fridays? With that came a very mundane feeling. Getting off of the BART train and walking up the escalator only to feel like a robot looking at the long faces alongside me. Working a 9-5 job can be very boring and hard to endure. I like to call it a slow death. This is only because of the repetitive nature of these types of jobs. (PAUSE: Now I know you saw the pic above and its freakin hilarious isnt it?) Then there is Casual Fridays. The reason behind it was to boost moral. I admit I love throwing on the occasional jeans on friday. However, it now has become such a standard practice at most companies that its lost its luster. Its just another part of the good old rat race that we love so much. Can you hear my sarcasim? So, being its casual friday today I must admit it feels good sitting in my chair writing this in a comfortable shirt and jeans. I am also happy to be working and to have a casual day to come to. Although I long for the day that I dont have to be restricted by someone telling me what to wear to the workplace. A day when I make that decision.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://myksmuse.blogspot.com/2009/01/casual-fridays-how-about-just-casual.html' title='Casual Fridays? So many choose to not play or make fun of it. However, this weekend I went down to Palm Springs for my boys 30th Bday. I had the privilage of playing with a dude that has skills to put him possibly one day on the PGA tour. Lets hope so. Anyways, he corrected alot of things I was doing wrong in my swing as well as kicked down some knowledge about the game. Golf is a sport that cannot help but challenge you, put you in a corner, and make you feel stupid. On the other hand though it can make you feel on top of the world. That happens when you connect on a perfect shot that just lands ever so sweetly on the farway or the green. Oh yes, addiction begins to take hold. My boys and I like to call that the itch. Some cant handle the game because it takes patience and hard work. That my friend is the part that intreagues me. Makes me come back for more. I need to give a shot out to my new found love. I'll see you on the links baby!!

Oh...well...when i get some money of course...its expensive as hell to play some golf.

Reflecting

Reflecting on the day of January 20th. I feel good today. I feel a definite change in our country. I feel a change in the world period. They say when you leave a relationship or a job or a group you realize many things that you wouldnt have noticed if you had stayed. In this case you feel the difference between the Obama Administration and the Bush Administration. Just the fact that the Obamas opened the white house doors to the people was huge in my book. We will never be directly involved in the decision making process of the president nor will we be able to be there for the joint chiefs of staff meetings. Obama on his first day has made an effort to set the tone of his presidency to America. He wants us to be involved and aware of what he is doing. His whole approach is a relief to the Bush years. I like how he got right to work on his first day because up until this point it was just words. Now the hope he spoke of is put into action. You feel it now as opposed to hearing it only. I am excited about the next 100 days. Superman? No!! Great President? I think so. Of course, that cant be defined after 2 days in office. However, he has made some bold moves already that are defining his presidency.

Here are some quotes from President Obama's Inaugurational Address that jumped out to me.

"We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to
set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring
spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift,
that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given
promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue
their full measure of happiness."

***

"What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them—
that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer
apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too
small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent
wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is
yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And
those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account — to spend
wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because
only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government."

***

"Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with
missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They
understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do
as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use;
our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example,
the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort — even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of
a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver
in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror
and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and
cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you."

When cultural sensitivity goes too far...

Many concerns have been circling the choice of Rick Warren to be the person chosen to lead in prayer at President Elect Obama's Inaugeration on January 20th. Many that have caused me to be taken back. I understand that equal rights are important. I know that a vote yes on 8 really makes you think about how a person can say they love you but yet deny you equal rights from a human standpoint. On the other hand how can you deny them their beliefs in return. Obama is doing the right thing. He is attempting to be a president for all americans and not just the far left or the far right. I think its exciting considering how far right the previous administration was. Its encouraging to see the bi-partisanship. For years I heard people complain about Bush and all his policies and statements only to complain about Obama picking a pastor of a Christian church. Whether we like it or not the Christian community is a huge part of America and to deny them would be un american just as denying someone equal rights. I give Obama credit for this one. I think he made a good choice. I think he is saying to America that its not a time to think in divisional terms but in terms of bringing people together. Dont get me wrong I dont agree with everything Rick Warren believes but I do respect him. Most of all I respect Obama for this move. I STILL cant wait for January 20th. Its going to be a great day for the U.S. and the world.

Pets are a part of the family!

Last night I went to see Marley and Me. Its a shame in the sense that these big three have not moved with the times. We all hear the old saying "Buy American." I don't want to. Every American car I have had sucked. It felt cheap. It didn't feel worth the money paid for it. I mean we invented cars. You would think we would be the leaders in this industry and we have fallen. Its sad to see these corporations needing to request money from the government. I really liked the movie. The action scenes were some of the best I have scene in a while. What I have noticed from both Casino Royal and Quantum of Solace is the details of the fight scenes. I love it when a director pays attention to the slightest detail when editing a film. When you watch look closely and you will notice subtle little details that make the scenes more realistic and believable. Its no wonder that Daniel Craig had wounds so bad on his face that he had to have plastic surgery nor is it a wonder that one of the stunt men actually died in one of the stunts. The stunts in this film are well done and prove it to be a very entertaining film. I would say go see this one on the big screen.

Sam Gallup..

Ok! I read this article on my Yahoo News. This poor dude lived in NY and was laid off from his job in August. He was recruited and accepted a mining job in Montana. Upon his arrival he was canned after a 10 hour shift. Laid Off to be exact. OMG! One freakin day. What kind of company does this? Poor management and leadership I say. If your company is about to start a wave of layoffs it should be something your aware of before you decide to hire someone. Let alone have them travel half way across the country for the job. They laid off 500 people. Why hire this guy? Doesnt make sense. So, he is forced to make it work. Just another indication of how bad our economy is right now.

RIGHT Vs. However, as I have gotten older I have slowly gravitated away from that Identity. Alot of it was because of changes in my life but a huge part is the right wing media. In the first few weeks of the President Elects days all I have been hearing is outlandish comments. Like hes a communist, socialist, terrorist, etc. Its almost as if, and I believe this to be true, that they have nothing to talk about so they resort to celebrity trash talk. With Obama they dont have much to attack. They are straining at a nat. Now, what gets me is when they get on their nationally syndicated talk shows and say Obama is a terrorist or he palls around with them. This is just a bent statement. Considering there are no facts to back that up but "Bill Ayers." So the right wing media hangs on to it because thats all they got. Well what about Rev. Wright? Well, of course that in my book was a poor decision on Obama's part to attend his church. They try to paint him as a racist? What? I was thinking last week about the fact that 4 of our Presidents have been killed. One of them shot but survived. Not to mention Bobby Kennedy and MLK. Many leaders have fallen to some crazed nut that has an agenda that is un-human. I am neither a Republican or a Democrat. I usually am a centralist but I do believe the right wing needs to be careful with its base. You fuel the fire of those who are crazy enough to try and take the presidents life. With the anniversary of Jonestown upon us it makes you think. Is there still one more crazy nut out there that may try and do the unthinkable? Well, 9/11 tells us its possible. I just think the statements that are being said are irresponsible and in poor taste. On the flip side though I dont agree with the censorship laws that many on the left are trying to pass. I think it to be unconstitutional.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://myksmuse.blogspot.com/2008/11/right-vs-left.html' title='RIGHT Vs. About a yard close. Tough way to lose a game. Few things I took from it. The niners turned the ball over 3 times and still almost beat the cardinals. Kurt Warner threw for over 300 yards and they still almost lost. The Niners should won this game. I like how hard they played and I think the Singletary era is up and running. I am excited to see how they play next game. I am not hoping for the playoffs this year but maybe next year we can expect more from the team. We shall see. To finish this thought. Michael Robinson? What were you thinking Martz? GORE!!! Best player on the field. At least have him in the game and why are we running from the 3 yard line up the middle? They stuffed Gore the first time and he still almost got in I might add, but 2 in a row? Bootleg? Play Action? If we were on the 1 or 1/2 yard line. I understand but 3 yards is a long way and we need to get in the endzone. Bad call from a good coordinator. Really bad call. That brought me back to Mariucci. Ugggh....it will get better. I have to believe that.

Tired of Palin?

Ok...I know I am not the only one who is tired of hearing about Sarah Palin. Its just too much at this point. However, she was a huge part of why McCain lost. I guess the reason she is still being talked about and interviewed is because we love controversy. We love it when their is a scandal of some sort or just some kind of friction. Frankly, I really dont care anymore if she went on her own and underminded the campaign. Who cares. OBAMA WON!! Thank You Sarah for helping that cause. You were good for something after all.

Circuit S***y

Today Circuit City announced that they will be filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. WTF!! Whats funny about this is that 5 years ago. I went to a CC store and I said to myself. They are not going to last. Simply because their marketing is not effective. The presentations at the stores suck. The store sometimes feel like a discount store. Like a dollar tree or something. I hate it when these companies that are huge just dont move with the times. With the surge of the Best Buys, Costco's, Walmart's, Target's with electronics. You think CC would change their game plan. Not just the logo. Ugghhh...another one bites the dust in this bad economy. Its sad I say sad.

RFK

Today was a reflective day for me about what happened on November 4. I reflected on presidents and politicians in the past. I remembered Bobby Kennedy. I remembered this speech in the video. The creator of this video put a montage of photos that makes you think but my focus is on one of the greatest speeches of our time. How Bobby K. was able to grip the people as he spoke. How when he spoke people listened. I then think of the President Elect. I think about the feeling we have as a nation how we felt when he spoke last Tuesday night. It was that as the country felt when Bobby aspired to be President. There is a definite excitement that has swept the country. A feeling of change and hope. Let me know what you think about Obama as well as the video posted. Let me know your thoughts.
